12th Annual National Conference: Aiyedatiwa lauds NAWIS

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the national body of Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS) for giving the state the hosting right for its 12th Annual National Conference.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye stated this at the day three of the conference held at the state sports complex, Akure the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa added that the hosting right wouldn’t have come without the positive contribution of the State chapter to the course of the association under the leadership of princess Adejoke Adebusoye.

He showered encomium on the founder of the Association, Prof.Florence Adeyanju for his vision to have a body to protect and defend the right of women in sports.

According to the Governor, the great association has not only contributed to only the development of sports in Nigeria, but has been impacting on the lives of our young ladies across the country.

In a chat, the National Vice President of NAWIS, Mrs Nkechi Monica Ezugu disclosed that the association believes so much in rotational and to ensure that all states feel the impact of the  association, hence the reason they all agreed on the choice of Ondo state for the hosting of the 12th Annual National Conference.

She added that the state is very peaceful, accommodating and one of the best in term of sports, saying she was impressed with their indoor hall.

She said: “Many states did not have such a beautiful facility for indoor games, we just finished a badminton competition inside the hall, I’m pleased with what I have seen here so far.”

The Association of Nigeria Women in Sports had marked the day three of their 12th Annual National Conference with athletics and badminton competitions.

Nkechi charged the young athletes that participated in the athletic and badminton events to be focused on their games, saying with good coaches,
