No fewer than 150 All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants jostling for the 26 seats at the Ondo State House of Assembly ahead of the screening exercise by the expected National Screening Committee (NSC) of the party in the state.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, disclosed this to The Hope yesterday.

The exercise, which was scheduled for the weekend could not be possible as a result of the just concluded screening of the aspirants seeking the party’s tickets to contest as governors and members of the National Assembly.

National Secretariat, has yet to inaugurate members of the National Screening Committee expected to be sent out to states to supervise screening of the party’s aspirants for the Houses of Assembly.

Kalejaye, said it is the duty of the National Secretariat to constitute NSC to screen aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the State Assembly seats.

He, however, explained that if the NSC is of no avail, saying that the state secretariats of the party may be directed to constitute committee for the screening exercise in each state.

“Until that is done we cannot come up with date yet” he said

According to him, the candidates of the party will swing into campaign after the indirect primaries of the party might have been conducted to canvas for votes of  electorate ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“The primaries will be done in transparent manner and whoever that lost is not as popular as person that must have emerged.

“If you go through a contest and lost, you don’t need a person to pacify you except if there is imposition of candidate” he explained

He noted that the primaries race of the party in the state will be keenly contested to produce credible candidates of the party to vying for the 26 seats at the State House Assembly.

Also, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state made known that the party will screen its aspirants seeking to pick the party’s tickets for the State Assembly tomorrow (Thursday).

When asked on the number of aspirants of the party aspiring for the state House Assembly, the State Chairman of the SDP, Chief Korede Duyile, said many have obtained notification of interest and requirement forms to vie for 26 seats at the state legislative arm of government.
