153,000 vaccinated against Yellow Fever in Akoko N/W

No fewer than 153, 000 persons in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State were vaccinated in the just concluded Vaccination Campaign Against Yellow Fever.

The Coordinator, Primary Health Care in the council area, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adewale disclosed this in a chat with The Hope.

Adewale said the campaign was taken to churches, mosques and market places which led to its huge success.

The campaign which was targeted at persons between the age group of nine months and 45 years was meant to eradicate the scourge of yellow fever in the country.

Similarly, the exercise also recorded a huge success in the other three local governments in Akoko land.

In Akoko North East, the Coordinator of Primary Health Care in the council, Dr Olanrewaju Gbadamosi attested to the success of the campaign in the area.

Gbadamosi made it known that 3,000 corps members also benefited as the campaign was taken to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare Akoko.

The coordinator also disclosed that the team visited Awara, Abadara, Ikakumo, Akunnu, Auga, Ise and Iboropa where residents embraced the exercise.

In the remote areas of Akoko land like Oyin in Akoko North West Local Government Area,  health workers and volunteers traversed all the camps and got the people vaccinated.

A senior health worker in the area, Mrs Dupe Olowoyeye commended the people of Oyin community and the monarch, Oba Olusola Bamisile.

Similarly at Ikun Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government, Mrs Bola Ogunsuyi led her team to visit Ago Igbira, Ayegunle and other communities where rural dwellers trooped out for the exercise.

The Caretaker Chairman, Akoko South East Local Government, Yomi Babatunde lauded the Federal and Ondo State Governments and the Primary Health Care for the exercise.
