Afolabi noted that players for the event travelled from far and near to participate in the tournament, with newly discovered talents also participating in the tournament.
Also, former Coach of Ondo State Chess Association, Akinleye Akinseye said after the event that the competition would boost the game of Chess in the state.
Akinseye said the competition was also a means of training for talented players that were readily available in the state ahead of events like the National Sports Festival.
“The Tournament will boost the game of chess in Ondo State by creating awareness and means of training for the raw talents we already have in the state.
“This is also to prepare them (talents) towards national events like the National sports festival coming up this year in Edo state,” he said.
