1,700 Ondo LG workers undergo promotion exercise

By Precious Owolabi

Ondo State Local Government Service Commission has commenced the 2025 promotion exercise for over 1,700 workers across the 18 local government areas of the state.

During the exercise, the Chairman of the Commission, Femi Idris, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for directing that promotion exercises begin early and conclude before the New Year.

“We appreciate His Excellency for ensuring that the promotion exercise for next year commences early and concludes before the new year begins,” he said, noting that such an approach demonstrates the governor’s commitment to efficient governance and staff welfare.

Idris stressed the importance of workers meeting set criteria, warning that only eligible candidates would be promoted.

He encouraged employees to remain diligent and punctual, noting that promotions would now take effect with financial benefits immediately applied.

“Interviews, qualifications, and readiness for promotion are key factors that determine eligibility,” he said, advising workers to present themselves appropriately and ensure they fulfil all requirements.

Mr Ojo Clement, a local government accountant from Ile-Oluji West Local Government Area, described the 2025 promotion process as a landmark event.

“This is one of the best exercises we’ve had in Ondo State,” he remarked.

“Promotions typically occur around April or May, but the governor’s timely intervention ensures this one takes effect from January 2025.”

Mrs Daramola Rhoda, a participant from Idanre Local Government Area, expressed gratitude for witnessing the 2025 promotion exercise.

She commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for creating an efficient system where promotion letters and financial benefits are processed without delay.
