2 docked over fish theft

Two teenagers, Yusuf Basiru, 12, and Yinusa Umaru, 13, have been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing fishes in a pond.
The defendants, described as scavengers are residents of Igbeyin street Ado-Ekiti, are facing one count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo, told the Court that the defendants and others at large committed the offence on June 22 at about 6:30 p.m behind Central Bank of Nigeria office complex along new Iyin road in Ado-Ekiti.
She alleged that the defendants stole fishes, valued not yet known, from the fish pond belonging to one Oladele Opeyemi, a fish farmer in Ado-Ekiti.
Ikebuilo said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable her study the file and arrange the prosecution witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the offence.
However, counsel to the defendants,,Mr Chris Omokhafe, urged the court to granted them bail in liberal term.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adefumike Anoma, granted the defendants N10,000 bail each with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned till July 27 for hearing.
