2 men allegedly behead septuagenarian, docked

Two men, Olaniran Aladeyehun 42, and Morakinyo Aladeyehun 47, have been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Oke Eda in the Akure magisterial district for alleged killing and cutting off the head of a 73-year-old woman, Stella Betiku.
The accused persons were brought before Magistrate (Mrs) C. Adeyanju on a two count-charge of felony to wit murder.
According to the charge sheet, the two accused persons and others at large committed the offence on August 28, 2018 at about 4pm at Igbodigo farm, Okitipupa in the Ondo State Magisterial District.
The offence committed was said to be contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Plea was not taken from the accused persons when the charge was read to them.
The prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, told the court that he is having an application on notice for remand and that he is ready to move the application if permitted by the court.
Counsel to the accused persons, Barrister F. O Olawole, urged the court for an adjournment to enable him file a counter affidavit before the court.
In her ruling, Chief Magistrate, (Mrs) C. Adeyanju ordered the remand of the accused persons in Olokuta prison to enable the counsel to the defendants file his counter affidavit before the court.
She therefore adjourned the case till October 31, 2018.
