2 remanded over attempted murder

Two men, Hammed Yussuf and Lekan Afolabi, have been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for attempting to kill a middle-aged man.
Yussuf, 31, and Afolabi, 27, allegedly committed the crime in June 30, 2019 at Sabo area, Osogbo.
The prosecutor, Mr Elisha Olusegun, said the accused persons attempted to kill one Ayodeji Emmanuel by hitting him with an iron rod and plank on his head and body.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the two-count of conspiracy and attempted murder levelled against them.
The offence, according to the prosecution contravened sections 516, 320(1), 80, 64 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The counsels, who represented the accused persons, Messrs Taiwo Awokunle and Kunle Asiyanbi, prayed the court to grant their clients bail in most liberal terms, promising that they would stand their trial.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara, refused the oral bail and directed the counsels to file formal applications for the bail of the accused persons.
Ayilara ordered the remand of the accused persons in Ilesa prison and adjourned till July 17, 2019 for ruling on the applications.
