A chieftain of  All Progressives Congress (APC) and senatorial candidate of the party in Ekiti Central District for the 2019 poll, Mr.  Opeyemi Bamidele, has advised politicians to embrace descent campaigns for the country to be more united.

Bamidele a former member of the House of Representative, representing Ado/Irepodun/Ifelodun federal House of Representative, also exuded confidence that he would defeat his challenger and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) , Barr Obafemi Adewale with wide margin owing to his closeness to the electorate in the February 16 senatorial poll.

He said he attracted 89 landmark projects to some towns in Ekiti Central as a member of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, describing the feats as part of what had endeared him to the populace.

Bamidele spoke in Iyin Ekiti on Saturday during a campaign tour of Irepodun/Ifelodun, one the councils in the five local governments in Ekiti Central.

The senatorial candidate added that all the APC candidates in the district will run a joint campaign since it is about the survival of the party and not about individual.

He urged the candidates contesting elections in the state and beyond to propagate President Muhammadu Buhari’s  high scorecard in the areas of anti corruption fight, decimation of insurgents and diversification of the economy.

“I want all contestants in Ekiti to run descent campaigns, this is what can showcase us as good leaders.

” My brother at the bar, Barrister Obafemi Adewale had said publicly that he has a lot of respect for me, just like I have for him. So, this election can’t divide us. We are not going to abuse ourselves because we have come a long way.

“But in this election, I will defeat him with a wide margin after which those of us in the progressive party will work on how to bring Barrister Adewale back home, I mean to the progressive’s fold because he started with us in AD in 1999.

” Under AD, Adewale was a commissioner for four years. But since he joined PDP in 2007, the highest he ever had was his appointment as a Special Adviser. He worth more than that so he has to return home.

“In this coming election, we are going to run on our past records and when it comes to this, it is sure that the electorate will see me as the best for the senate. So, we are sure of victory”, he stated .

Bamidele stressed the need for the candidate to join the fray in the campaign for President Buhari, saying every election is crucial to our party at this stage .

He advises the newly constituted Ekiti Central Campaign council, headed by the Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi  to be dedicated and thorough in their campaigns for all APC candidates across the 57 wards in the district.

The campaign council billed to campaign for the House of Assembly and National Assembly candidates in Ekiti Central was inaugurated in Iyin Ekiti on Friday.
