The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure that the 2019 general elections is free and fair as done by former President Goodluck Jonathan who accepted defeat.

The Ondo State Secretary of the party, Chief Ibini Oyedele who gave the admonition during an interview with The Hope also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to thread softly and not to drag the name of the commission in the mud by allowing rigging.

According to him, the Presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is capable of leading the country being a leader that has regards for the rule of law.

“We are calling on the federal government to make sure that the election is free and fair, if our President Buhari loses the elections, he should go, that will be more honorable for him than to rig, as for me the man doesn’t want those things, it is those people under him that are doing it, but he should caution them”, he said.

He noted that the primary elections that produced the PDP candidates were transparent and serve as an evidence of true democracy which the party will bring in if elected.

“Our candidate in PDP has transversed in every field of endeavour, he is a man who believes in the rule of law, the present administration doesn’t have regard for the rule of law.
