The 2019 general elections in Nigeria have been described as the best compared to previous elections in the country.
The Ondo State Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Chief Alamuren Ogunbodede gave the assessment in an interview with The Hope yesterday.
He said the assessment was sequel to non intimidation from security agencies during the Presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly elections in the state.
According to him, the 2019 general elections were the best contrary to insinuation from some quarters over the militarisation of the elections.
His words: “I do not succumb to that insinuation because here in Ondo State where l reside, we did not experience such.
“If I’m to rate the 2019 general elections in the state, l will say it is one of the best elections conducted in Nigeria. The assessment followed non intimidation from security agencies in the state.”
The chairman explained that security agencies during the polls were at the point of duty to maintain law and order.
“Unlike other elections in the past where the presence of Nigeria Army was a threat to electorates. The election was free and fair in the state.”he said
Ogunbodede urged the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Rufus Akeju to take cue from his predecessor who has done wonderfully well in 2015 general elections so as to improve on the future election.
While advising him to give his best by ensuring a round peg is putting into a round hole the chairman assured that the INEC boss will perform well in the future election if given chance.
He further implored him sustain his dignity and not take bribe from any politician.
