2019 Zenith Basketball league kicks off today

All is now set for the 2019 Zenith Women Basketball league in Akure the Ondo state capital being one of the centers for the prestigious tournament.

A total number of six teams are expected to converge at the indoor sports hall of the Akure sports complex.

The teams include host Sunshine Angels, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Queens, First Deep Waters, IGP Queens, Coal City Queens, and Delta Force.

Speaking in an interview, the competition Coordinator and a former national Coach, Andrew Isokphei  said the competition would afford teams to compete, exercise their skills and  to be picked for national engagement.

On his part, the head Coach, Ondo state basketball team, Sola Aluko noted that his team has been training and set for the tournament

Also speaking, Secretary, Ondo State basketball Association,  Mrs Funmilayo Olatuja said necessary logistics and welfare arrangements for visiting teams have been concluded.

As at the time of filling this report, finishing touches are been perfected on the court while teams and officials are making their way to the state capital for the competition proper.

The competition kicks off today and will last till  2nd August 2019.
