2023/24 NPFL season: Sunshine Stars to play home matches in Akure — Commissioner

Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa has said Sunshine Stars will play all their 2023/24 Nigeria professional Football League home matches at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure, saying contrary information was untrue.
He stated this while dismissing a misleading information going round the state that Management of the team was planning to play 2023/24 season outside the state.
He said Sunshine Stars will play all their matches at the State Sports Complex in Akure.
Ologunloluwa in a chat with Sporting Hope confirmed that Akure stadium has been approved for the hosting of the 2023/24 Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL ) season.
He said:”There was no plan to move Sunshine Stars outside Ondo for the new season, we are going to play all our home matches in Akure.”
The commissioner said the preparation for the new season is in top gear, saying the team is currently camping somewhere outside the state to enable the players concentrate for the task ahead.
He disclosed that the team played two friendly matches on Monday ,while also engaged Osun United in another match yesterday morning.
He added that the team will travel to Kwara United today to play another friendly match with the Afonja Warriors.
