All things being equal, Ondo contingent will hit 2023 National Youth Games (NYG)slated for Asaba in Delta State with 19 sports .
The General Manager of the state Sports council, Mr Henry Babatunde in a chat with Sporting Hope said the state’s contingent will depart for the games on 7th of September.
He disclosed that Ondo State will be participating in 19 games at the National Youth Games, saying the athletes will be in camp till departure date.
Babatunde listed the 19 games to include; Athletic, Badminton, Swimming, Beach Volleyball, Handball, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Boxing, Taekwondo, Karate Canoeing and others.
He added that the athletes are in good shape for the games, adding that they have been training hard to do the state proud at the games.
He said: “The management of the council are monitoring the training, we go to all these training center to see how they are doing, with what we are seeing in their training, we are optimistic of good show at the competition.”
“I commend the coaches for their good job, they are giving the young athletes the modern training and the athletes at the other side are catching up.
“We will have a good outing, at the games, all we need now is the support and prayers of our people.”
“We thank the government for the approval given to us to participate in the national youth games, we will be prudent with the fund made available to us.”
