The Ondo State Government has released the list of collectibles in public primary and secondary schools across the state for the 2024/25 academic session.
A circular released by the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Folasade Adegoke, puts the total amount of collectibles from new intakes into public primary schools at N5,000.
Also, new intakes into public secondary schools will pay a total not exceeding N14,000, while returning students in JSS3 – SS3 will pay N11,000.
The circular mandates that all new intakes are to come to their school of choice with a hoe, cutlass, locker, chair, broom, and two file jackets during the registration exercise.
The circular, however, warned that no school has the right to collect money for textbooks or school uniforms but must provide parents and guardians with samples of the recommended uniform and a list of recommended textbooks.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, warned school principals and headteachers against collecting other items or charging additional levies outside the ones approved by the state government and as contained in the circular.
