A prominent politician and APC chieftain from Idanre, Afolabi Adesoji, has claimed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 2024 gubernatorial election has not only altered the political dynamics in Ondo State, but has also marked a new phase in Idanre’s political trajectory.

Adesoji, who played a pivotal role as Deputy Director General in the Aiyedatiwa campaign in Idanre, in an interview argued that the election result went beyond a mere political win.

According to him, it was a clear testament to a shift in the region’s political power, signifying the people’s deep desire for leadership that values unity, progress, and sustainable development.

“What we witnessed in Idanre was not just an election; it was a political realignment. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory signifies the people’s yearning for leadership that puts their welfare first,” Adesoji stated, adding that the governor’s strong connection with the electorate was a key factor.

“Under Aiyedatiwa’s administration, politics in Idanre has taken a new dimension. There’s a new spirit of cooperation, where party lines are less important than the shared vision for progress,” he said, stressing that the election results demonstrated that local communities are increasingly demanding practical leadership that delivers real change.

Adesoji also noted the political transformation in Idanre, where party leaders and stakeholders have rallied behind a common goal: to strengthen the APC’s influence and ensure the party’s dominance in Ondo State.

He credited both Chief Pius Akinyelure and Tajudeen Adefisoye for playing critical roles in unifying the party ranks, fostering a climate of political cooperation and stability.

Adesoji also highlighted that Aiyedatiwa’s victory had a profound effect on restoring public confidence in governance. According to him, the governor’s leadership style has revitalised the people’s trust in their government, ensuring that the concerns of ordinary citizens are addressed in real-time.

“The people of Idanre and Ondo State at large now feel a renewed sense of ownership in the political process. Aiyedatiwa’s government is one that listens, responds, and acts decisively,”

He emphasised that the governor’s swift actions to tackle pressing issues like infrastructure development and security have earned him the people’s loyalty and support.
