2024: Ondo First Lady, APC Women Leader inaugurate mobilizers

Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu in conjunction with the All Progressives Congress, APC, women wing on Tuesday inaugurated 2024 women mobilizers ahead of the 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.

The women mobilizers selected across the 18 local government areas displayed placards to indicate their interest and inclusion in the 2024 gubernatorial election.

The First Lady who described the initiative as a good innovation and first of its kind, stated that it’s about mentoring and promoting women’s rights.

While describing the inauguration as a leap for women in the state, she said women will now have the opportunity to be involved in making decisions for the overall well-being of women in the state.

Mrs Akeredolu emphasised on the need for women to forge a common cause in order to fight against gender based challenges in politics.

“When you do things repeatedly without results, you change your strategy. Let every woman go back to the grassroot and begin to carry each other along. This is the beginning of the brighter future for Ondo State women.”

Earlier, the State Chairman of APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin while urging women to stay united, said women make the party strong.

He described the wife of the Governor as women advocate and commended her for her various programmes aimed at elevating women in the society.

Adetimehin said since Mrs Akeredolu assumed office, she has ensured that women rights are not tampered with.

He also hinted the National Women Leader that the party in the state is united, and therefore, call on the national secretariat to cooperate with the state in order to achieve a common goal.

He also appealed to the newly inaugurated  mobilizers to go back to the grassroot to mobilize for the forthcoming election so that the party can have a landslide victory.

Also speaking, the Acting National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile- Idele appreciated the party for the confidence reposed in her by giving her the responsibility to lead the women.

She said the inauguration was a significant milestone towards empowering women.

She enjoined the mobilizers to take the message back to the grassroot, so that the APC can retain power in 2024.

According to her, “we are a force to reckon with and will continue to strive for dignity and diligence”.

She enlightened the mobilizers on their roles, saying “you are Special Advisers and you are crucial in shaping the unique  features of women”.

She said ” it’s a women O’ clock”.
