2025 NDSF: Blessing increases team Ondo’s gold haul

Kayode Blessing has added another gold medal to Team Ondo’s tally at the ongoing maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival in Akwa Ibom.

Blessing clinched the most coveted title in the 65kg para-powerlifting category, bringing Team Ondo’s gold medal count to two.

Emeka Promise Simeon also secured a silver medal in the men’s 1500m T53/54 para-athletics event.

The Ondo State male volleyball team has qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Akwa Ibom 2-0 and cruising past Imo State with another 2-0 victory in their second match.

However, the female team lost 2-0 to both Akwa Ibom and Rivers State.

In tennis, Adesewa Olaniyan defeated her opponent 4-0, 4-0, while Alice Paul edged past Chidinma 4-2, 4-4 (4-7), 10-5.

The duo of Henry Aina and Imole Adisa also emerged victorious, defeating Uche Stanley and Henry Nwosu of Abia State, respectively.

Team Ondo’s tennis players are scheduled to compete in the semi-finals of the tournament tomorrow.

In handball, Team Ondo triumphed over Imo State 22-17 in the male category.

In the female category, they defeated Rivers State 16-0 but narrowly lost 8-9 to Edo State.

Niger Delta Sports Festival para-powerlifting gold medallist Kayode Blessing expressed gratitude to God for his victory at the event.

He promised to stay focused on his training and continue working hard to deliver an even better performance in the future.

“This is a call for better performance,” he said.
