2026: APC will win all wards in Ekiti — Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has said that the All Progressives Congress is working towards winning all 177 wards in the state in the June 20, 2026governorship election.

Oyebanji said he has endeared the party to people of the state, opposition members inclusive, hence their expected votes in the forthcoming governorship election.

The governor, who spoke at his ward at Ikogosi Ekiti on Saturday during the party’s delegates congress, lauded APC members in the state for their unity and peaceful conduct at the exercise ahead of Monday’s governorship primaries.

The delegates’ congress was for the election of delegates from across the 177 wards in the state, who will, during the party’s primary election on October 27, affirm Ekiti State Governor, Oyebanji, as the party candidate for the June 2026 governorship poll.

Recall that the APC National Working Committee had announced Oyebanji as the party’s consensus governorship candidate in Ekiti State following the withdrawal of the second aspirant, Mrs Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo, leaving only the governor in the race.

The party had earlier disqualified the remaining two aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olawumi.

The governor described the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise as “another demonstration of the maturity and discipline that define the APC in Ekiti State.

“You can see that our members are happy and united in one accord to exercise their franchise.

“You can also see that in all the wards, delegates were elected by consensus, which speaks to the unity between the leadership and the membership of the party in Ekiti State.

“In the last three years that we have been at the saddle, we have made the party more attractive to people, we have had a lot of members coming in from other parties to join APC because we have been able to deliver on various deliverables.

“I can assure you with God being on our side, the record we want to break, by the grace of God, on June 20 next year, is the record of winning 177 wards.

“It has never happened in the history of this State before, but on June 20 next year, God being on our side, APC will win convincingly all the 177 wards,” the governor said.

The Chairman, APC Delegates Congress Committee for Ekiti State, Jaret Tenebe, in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of congress elections across the 177 wards of Ekiti State.

Tenebe, who is the APC chairman in Edo State, congratulated the delegates that emerged in the exercise, adding, “Our team has moved around all local governments and various wards in the state. I commend Governor Biodun Oyebanji for making the party more proud”.

Tenebe expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ward congresses, saying that the party followed all due process in ensuring that there was no crisis in the process.

A group of civil society organisations and Independent National Electoral Commission-registered observers also hailed the peaceful and orderly conduct of the APC delegates’ election, which was held on Saturday.

The CSOs, Citizen Right For Peace And Non Violence Initiative, Global Development Centre For Rescue Mission Nigeria, and Suitable African Initiative For Suitable And Positive Development spoke in a communique read in Ado Ekiti on Saturday by their Coordinator, Romanus Azubuike, after the conclusion of the delegates’ Congress.

The CSOs stated, “The election was conducted in a peaceful and conducive manner, under the watchful presence of various security agencies”.
