A frontline governorship aspirant for the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has formally declared his intention to contest for the office of governor.
Oyebamiji, who currently serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), made the declaration during a visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
He stated that his decision to run stems from a deep-rooted commitment to serve humanity, especially the people of Osun State, where he spent the first two decades of his life.
Calling for issue-based campaigns before, during, and after the election, Oyebamiji stressed that his competence transcends zoning considerations.
“Yes, I am from the West Senatorial District and we are appealing for equity, justice, and fairness. However, whether it’s West, Central, or East, Bola Oyebamiji remains the most competent to govern Osun State,” he declared.
Highlighting his extensive experience, he noted that he has spent nearly 15 years in government and over 20 years in the structured private sector, rising to senior management levels.
He emphasised his belief in good governance built on competence, results, and integrity.
On his track record, Oyebamiji pointed to his accomplishments as Managing Director of Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), where he grew the company’s capital base from ₦360 million to ₦6 billion in five years. As two-term Commissioner of Finance, he played a key role in stabilizing the state’s economy during a period of financial crisis.
Oyebamiji concluded by urging party leaders and members to uphold the values of decorum, unity, and internal peace, hallmarks of the APC, as political activities gather momentum.
