21st NIPOGA: Olowo charges youths to embrace sports

The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegeshin Ogunoye lll has charged youths to embrace sports not only for passion but as means of sustenance.

The traditional ruler, stated this at the unveiling of “Oronsen” as the official Mascot of the 21st NIPOGA tagged “Owo 2022” at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo.

He added that the essence of sports is to unite people, saying he was sure the ongoing Nigeria Polytechnic Games has brought the people of diverse ethnicities together.

The Olowo noted that hosting of the NIPOGA in Owo is the attestation that the city is peaceful, saying if the environment is not peaceful people will not be around for the games.

He said: I feel good to be here and we are happy that NIPOGA is taking place in Owo, as the host community, it behoves on us to be here and honour the management of the institution.

“We are to promote peace and we shall continue to do that, so that our youths will find means of sustenance in life and at the same time other businesses will also thrive.”

“As an individual, we equally promote sports, that is why we are organising Oba Ajibade Ogunoye football competition among the secondary schools in Owo local government annually.”

“Therefore, I charged the people of Ondo State to be peaceful and support the government of the day in order to achieve better development across the 18 local governments.”
