22 -year-old docked over Okada theft

A 22-year-old secondary school student, Timilehin Akinmade, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo town, for stealing TVS motorcycle  worth N215,000.

The police charged  the accused before the court for conspiring with three others at large to steal a TVS motorcycle marked  NND 427 VJ,  property of one Kolade Fadayomi.

Akinmade, who is now facing a two- count charge bothering on stealing and conspiracy, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The police prosecutor, Mr  Charles Olagbayi,  said the accused committed the offence in March 22, 2019, at about 8pm, at Oke  Igbala street.

The charge  read in part: ”That you, Timilehin Akinmade and three others still at large in March 22, 2019, at about 8pm at Oke Igbala street, Ondo, in the Ondo Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you, Timilehin Akinmade and three others still at large  on same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one TVS motorcycle marked NND 427 VJ valued at N215,000, property of one Kolade Fadayomi  and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Counsel for the accused person, Abayomi Oladire, applied for the bail of his client in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Odenusi Fadeyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till July 24, 2019 for trial.
