Ondo State’s volleyball team on Saturday defeated Kwara 3-2 to qualify for the semi-finals at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Team Ondo won the first set 25-21, lost the second set 23-25, came back to win the third 26-24, went down in the fourth set 15-25, before sealing victory in the fifth set with 15-13.

It was a massive statement from Team Ondo, who have shown throughout the tournament that they are serious contenders for gold.

Team Ondo’s progression to the semi-finals underlines the strength, strategy, and spirit of the squad since the last edition at the Edo Festival.

Meanwhile, Ondo State’s basketball team also progressed to the semi-finals against Bayelsa State after defeating Kaduna 43-31.

In boxing, John Odeh defeated his Anambra opponent in the 60kg category to advance to the semi-finals, while Olayide Ogunleye lost to Kogi in the quarter-finals of the 48kg bout.
