23-year old tailor stabs man to death in Akoko

The Ondo State Police command has arraigned a 23-year old tailor, Faith Adeola, for allegedly stabbing a middle-aged man, Gbenga Olotu to death with a knife over a missing stabilizer.
The incident happened on May 10, 2025, in the Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, Akoko North West area of the Ondo State.
Adeola, who is popularly known as ‘Chelsea’ was arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court on one count bothering on murder.

that a dispute arose between Adeola and Olotu, who was described as his street brother, regarding the alleged theft of a stabilizer.
During the altercation, it is claimed that the deceased, under the influence of hard drugs attempted to stab Adeola and his wife with a knife.
In the ensuing struggle, Adeola managed to wrest the knife from the deceased and subsequently stabbed him in the chest.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the deceased bleeding and rushed him to the General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The matter was reported to the Oka-Akoko Police Division, which subsequently transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure
In court, the prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adeyemi stated that the defendant committed the offence at 2:30pm on May 8, 2025.
The charge read, “ Faith Adeola ‘m’, on May 10, 2025, at about 2:30, at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully stabbed one Olotu Gbenga ‘m’ a.k.a. “Zagazar” with a knife on his chest and also hit him with wood on his body which resulted to his death”
He further stated that the offence contravened Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant’s plea was not taken.
Adeyemi prayed the court to remand the defendant to the correctional centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.
The defence counsel sought an adjournment to enable their clients to react to the application sought by the prosecution.
The magistrate, Mrs. R.I. Adelakin, therefore adjourned the case till May 29 for the hearing of the application and ruling.
Adelakin consequently ordered the remand of the defendant at the SCID, Akure
