2Baba’s marriage proposal to Natasha Osawuru sparks outrage

Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba, has set social media ablaze with his jaw-dropping proposal to Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawuru, just hours after publicly begging Nigerians to plead on his behalf.
In a dramatic twist that has left fans reeling, a viral video captured the “African Queen” crooner going down on one knee, slipping a sparkling engagement ring onto Osawuru’s finger.
The visibly overwhelmed politician hesitated before embracing the singer, while onlookers erupted in cheers.
This bombshell comes amid 2Baba’s ongoing divorce from Annie Idibia, his longtime partner whose marriage to him has been a rollercoaster of emotional turmoil, public betrayal, and unending controversy.
As if to silence the swirling rumours, 2Baba had earlier taken to Instagram to confirm his relationship with Osawuru, stating:
“Yes, I love her. She’s amazing, she’s cool. I want to marry her. That is on one side. On the other side, Annie and I are not fighting, we are not quarrelling, we have a good understanding of ourselves and what’s going on.”
But the public isn’t buying it. The internet erupted with backlash, with many questioning how a man whose marital life has been marred by infidelity and scandal could be rushing into another relationship so publicly.
For years, Annie Idibia has battled accusations, heartbreak, and betrayal in what many describe as a “marriage of endurance.” Now, reports suggest she may be struggling with substance abuse, allegedly triggered by years of emotional distress and public humiliation.
Social media users didn’t hold back their anger, calling out the musician for his role in his estranged wife’s reported woes.
“2Baba, look at what you have done to Annie! After all these years, she is reportedly struggling with drug abuse. If anything happens to her, you will be held responsible,” a user, City Market Place, wrote.
Another, Isioma Rosemary, fumed: “Abeg make we dey fear God! How many women do you want to marry? What about your children? God will ask you about them one day!”
However, some fans defended the singer, arguing that he had every right to move on.
“When female celebrities leave their marriages, they are praised for choosing themselves. But when a man like 2Baba wants to move on, people act as if he has committed a crime,” Kayode Omolayo argued.
But Mfon Essien hit back: “You can’t compare! How many children do those female celebrities have from different men? 2Baba has multiple baby mamas and now wants to take another wife. It’s irresponsible.”
TVC’s Morayo Afolabi-Brown, host of Your View, weighed in on the controversy, slamming the singer for his actions.
“I think he should not go scot-free for what he has done. He has probably damaged this woman (Annie). Maybe it was societal pressure that made him stay with her in the first place. At what point did he decide he was done?” she questioned.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife that 2Baba’s swift move may not be about love but politics.
“2Baba just wants to eat political money. His music career is no longer booming, and he is looking for a new source of wealth. After all, love na scam,” alleged Ijeoma Eruemulo.
With Annie Idibia’s silence growing louder, Nigerians are left wondering: Is this the final nail in the coffin for the Idibia love story? Or is 2Baba simply walking into yet another storm?
Actor Uche Maduagwu, has blasted women supporting 2Face, describing them as witches.
Maduagwu weighed in on the ongoing saga between Nigerian singer 2Face, Annie and his new lover, Natasha Osawuru.
In a statement via his Instagram story, the actor alleged that 2Face is not a good married man.
According to him, “a good married man will never propose marriage to another lady in public while his wife is allegedly not feeling fine and going through a lot.”
He wrote, “Any woman supporting what 2Baba is doing to Annie is a Witch.”
An X user, Peace Ighodaro, has reacted to the engagement of 2Face and his lover, Natasha Osawuru, stating that she is making a mistake.
She stated this on Thursday, ina tweet via her verified handle on X.
Note that the singer has been making rounds on the social media since announcing his separation from his wife, Annie and revealing that he is in a relationship with Natasha Osawuru, majority leader of the Edo state House of Assembly.
