Ijapo Ages Stars FC and Young Kings will face off in the final of the second edition of the Adu Unity Football Cup for Aiyedatiwa.

Ijapo Ages Stars, the defending champions, defeated Right Hand FC 2-0 in the opening match, overcame Obere United 2-0, and secured a 1-1 draw against Young Kings to clinch their spot in the final.

Young Kings, on the other hand, whitewashed Obere United 6-1 in their first match, played a goalless draw against Right Hand FC, and ended the preliminary stage with a 1-1 draw against the defending champions.

The competition, which featured four football clubs, was played in a league format. The team with the highest points on the log qualified for the final to face the second-placed team.

Ijapo Ages Stars FC currently top the log with seven points from ea matches, while Young Kings are second with five points from the same number of games.

Right Hand FC ended the competition third with two points from three matches, while Obere United managed just one point to finish at the bottom of the table.

Speaking with Sporting Hope, the Chairman of the organising committee for the Adu Unity Football Cup, Mr Rahman Abdulsalam, congratulated the two finalists for reaching the final.

Abdulsalam also commended all participating teams for adhering to the competition’s rules and regulations, expressing his delight at the high level of sportsmanship displayed by the clubs.

He urged the finalists to maintain the same standard in the final, reiterating the commitment of the organising committee to provide both teams with a level playing field.

The Sunshine Stars Welfare Officer added that the final match will be played this week, with the exact day to be communicated to all participating teams 24 hours before kick-off.

“As a committee, we do not have any favourite team. We will do our best to ensure that the best team emerges as champions,” he said.
