3 die in fatal road accident in Akure

Three persons have been confirmed dead, while three others sustained various degrees of injuries in a multiple road accident which occurred at Owode  in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State.

The accident involved a blue Toyota Picnic car with number plate Ondo WWW989MW, coming from Owo to Akure and a DAF truck commercial marked FST213XV, heading to Benin.

 Mr Rotimi Adeleye, the state Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident to The Hope Metro.

According to him, the accident which occurred around 11: pm was caused by a tyre burst, while the driver of the truck drove above speed limits and had head-on collision with the picnic.

“We also had a situation around Agbogbo area involving a bike man and a passenger in which both of them lost their lives on the spot.

The FRSC boss stated that three people, one female and two males involved in the accident died immediately, while two others in the vehicle sustained injury.

He said the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the State Teaching Hospital morgue while the patrol team took the injured to Owode health centre.

Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee- Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident after he visited the injured victims at the state Teaching Hospital Akure, said they were responding to treatment.

 He advised Okada operators and drivers to drive with caution and observe all traffic rules in order to avoid a occurrence, saying, ”life is sacred, nobody wants to lose it.’’
