No fewer than 300 elderly, vulnerable and physically challenged residents of Ifedore Local Government Area have benefited from the ongoing O’datiwa Free Rural Medical Outreach, which was officially flagged off at the palace of the Olowena of Owena.

The event, aimed at delivering free medical care, drugs, testing and health insurance to underserved rural communities, was launched by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matters, Prof. Simidele Odimayo.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Dr Seun Osamaye, expressed delight at the turnout and excitement of beneficiaries.

She noted that about 300 individuals had already received various forms of medical attention under the initiative.

Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin, Director-General of the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, said the outreach would also provide access to health insurance services. These can be accessed at designated local health centres or through referrals to the General Hospital in Igbara-Oke.

The three-day outreach includes free consultations with doctors, blood pressure and sugar level checks, as well as the distribution of essential medications.

Present at the flag-off were top government officials, including representatives of the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Health and Women Affairs, Dr Adiji and Mr Oyegunwa respectively.

Also in attendance were directors, medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Traditional rulers and community leaders at the event commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for prioritising healthcare for rural dwellers and ensuring that free health services and insurance are accessible to the people.
