37 bag First Class as Achievers holds 13th convocation

Achievers University, Owo, will hold its convocation ceremony on Saturday as it churns out 552 graduates from the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Similarly, the University will confer honorary awards on the daughter of the late first civilian governor of the old Ondo State, Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State, Mrs Olajumoke Anifowose.

The Executive Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Abuja, Engineer Ifeoluwa Oyedele and the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar, will also receive honorary awards.

 The 13th in the series, the ceremony will also be held along with the 16th anniversary of the institution. 

Acting Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Omolola Oladunni Irinoye, made this known on Monday at the school while addressing a press conference signalling the commencement of the programme. 

Breaking down the list of the graduands, Professor Irinoye disclosed that 518 students bagged first degrees and 34 with postgraduate or masters degrees.

 According to her, 37 had first class honours, 259 with second class upper division, 195 with second class, lower division and 27 with third class honours.

 Tracing the operations and progress of the school, the VC said the school, which started its academic activities in 2008 with 126 students, now has a student population of 3,929, while the initial two colleges have grown to five colleges and three faculties.

She posited that the University has continued to vigorously pursue her academic activities in teaching, research, and community service over the years.

According to her, the school also has the tradition of commencing and completing sessions and prompt release of results.

 She informed that almost all the programmes of the school are fully accredited. 

Professor Irinoye also disclosed that the University has also received permission from the National University Commission, NUC, to commence 11 new programmes in the 2023/2024 academic session, among which is the MBBS (Medicine and Surgery).
