Four men on Thursday appeared before an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged burglary and stealing of property worth of N1,050, 000.
The defendants are Peter Jamboh, 31, a motorcyclist; Freeman Nanlir, 27, an apprentice; John Selzing, 20, a mechanic; and Friday Dandum, 27, unemployed, whose addresses were not given, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehim , the defendants committed the offences with others at large on February 7, at about 11:30am at Plot 7 Block LXXIV, Housing Estate Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government.
Akintimehin said the defendants burgled the house of one Mr Segun Olufowobi and stole his belongings.
He said the defendants stole two HP laptops valued at N240,000; Three cellphone valued at N245,000; Jewelries and gold valued at N410,000, among other valuables total valued at N840,000.
The defendant was also said to have also damaged the burglary window of the building belonging the complainant valued at N200,000
He said the alleged offences contravene Sections 516, 411, 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunnus, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1million each with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till March 14, 2023 for hearing.
