Four middle-aged men have been arraigned before an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure over alleged attempt to steal transformer cable wires.
The defendants are; Dayo Babatunde, Abayomi Akindayo, Isaac Odiwri and Kunle Otuyiga.
They allegedly committed the offence on October 26, 2018 around 2:00am, at Ode Etikan via Igbokoda Ondo state.
The state Counsel, Segun Akeredolu told the court that the defendants conspired to commit felony to wit robbery.
He said the defendants attempted to rob the residents of Ode Etikan Community of their transformer cable wires.
Akeredolu further stated that the defendants unlawfully had a locally made barrel gun without a license in their possession.
He also stated that the defendants willfully and unlawfully destroyed a transformer with its pillar concretes, properties of the residents of Ode Etikan Community.
The offences contravene Sections 516, 403, 3(1) 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Defense counsel to the first and fourth defendants, P.O. Attah, applied for his clients’ bail in most liberal terms.
In his ruling, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, granted the defendants’ bail .
But the second and third defendants who could not perfect their bails, were remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre.
He adjourned the case till March 21, 23 and April 3, 2023.
