The current African champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria defeat their counterparts from Romania by four goals to one in the third place match of the China invitational tourney yesterday.
Almost all the entire first half of the game was dominated by the Falcons, creating chances but failed to convert any of them until the 44th minute when Chiwendu Ihezuo, after relentless pressure by the falcons, got a goal for the Nigerian side before the half time.
The Romanians did not waste time in the second half of the game as they got an equalising goal 10 minutes into the second half to make it 1-1.
The Falcons’ captain, Onome Ebi scored the second for Nigeria in the 63rd minute and Rita Chikwelu added another goal for the falcons in the 68th minute.
Brighton and Hove Albion forward, Ini Umotong made it 4-1 for the Nigerian women in the 83rd minute to secure the third place prize in the tournament.
The Falcons were earlier on Tuesday defeated by the host, China 3-0 in their first game of the tournament.
The Falcons will later participate at another invitational tournament holding in Cyprus this year before the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France kicks off.
The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group A alongside Norway, Korea and the host, France.
