It was a gory sight on Sunday as four persons were reportedly crushed to death in a tragic accident that occurred at Oke-Agunla axis of Alade-Idanre in the Idanre Local Government area of Ondo State.
The Hope Metro gathered that the impact of the collision was so severe that the bodies of the victims were dismembered, a gruesome sight that left the entire community in shock and mourning.
Others involved in the accident were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Orthopaedic homes in Idanre.
The crash involved two Toyota Corolla cars and two motorcycles.
According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred at about 5pm, as a result of dangerous overtaking of one of the cars at a sharp bend near General Hospital, Alade-Idanre.
The brand new Toyota Corolla car with no number plate wrongly overtook the other car and rammed into two motorcyclists, killing the riders instantly.
The car also sommersaulted and hit others who were badly injured before it eventually stopped.
Eyewitnesses said the cars were coming from Odode, while the motorcycles were coming en route Alade and heading towards Odode Idanre.
The blue Toyota Corolla car responsible for the accident was impounded by the authorities and taken to the Motor Traffic Department of the Idanre Police Division.
The Hope Metro learnt that the driver of the car immediately fled the scene, while the police have launched a manhunt for him.
In another accident that occurred in Akure, a middle-aged man, identified as Taye Ademiluyi, was sent to his early grave when a new Lexus car crushed him to death in Alagbaka G.R.A, Akure South Local Government of Ondo State.
Our correspondent who was at the scene immediately after the crash said the unregistered Lexus car left his lane and rammed into the motorcycle conveying the deceased and his cousin, who were passengers.
The unfortunate incident happened between a Catholic Church and the junction of a five- star hotel in Alagbaka.
” It was raining around 10pm on Thursday when I noticed the Lexus car drove past where I was standing waiting for bike. And all of a sudden, a white Benz car dangerously overtook the Lexus car. And the two cars drove on top speed.
“Few minutes later, I got bike and on getting to the scene, I saw the crash,” he said.
The deceased was rushed to the Ondo State Teaching Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre along Oda road, in Akure, but he gave up the ghost.
