5 in court over threat to life

Five men have been dragged before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for threatening to kill one Caroline Abiodun, with dangerous weapons.
The defendants are; Chief Solomon Akinrinola, 58, Bolawa Akinbobola, 68, Sunday Akinlosotu, 63, Clement Olawoye, 61 and Jimoh Akinboyewa, 63.
They were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Mosunmola Ikujuni, on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, threatening of life and assault.
The police prosecutor, Akao Moremi, alleged that the defendants, on October 17, 2022, between 9am-12pm at Road 16, AdeSuper, Lisa Akinrinlade quarter, conspired to commit the crimes after unlawfully damaging erected block fence valued at N2million.
He added that the defendants also damaged the woman’s cloth.
The offences contravene Sections 516,457,86,351 and 451 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. I Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty while their counsel, S.O Okewoye, applied for their bail, promising to provide reliable sureties.
Consequently, the Chief Magistrate granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with one reasonable surety each.
She said the sureties must be residents of the jurisdiction.
Ikujiuni adjourned the matter till May 2, 2023 for hearing.
