No fewer than 5,000 youths in  Ondo state have applied into the Nigeria Police Force.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government, through the Police Service Commission had  advertised for  the recruitment of about 10,000 men and women into the Police as costables, across the federation.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, who gave the figure to The Hope in an interview, said the 5,000 were those shortlisted by the authority saddled with that responsibility.

The shortlisted applicants, according to the Police spokesman were already undergoing various screening exercise at the police headquarters along Igbatoro road in Akure.

He explained that the applicants  would be screened by  committee drawn from the Police Service Commission (PSC) Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He stated that the  committee would check their credentials as well as the height of the applicants, adding that every male must  be 5.6ft while females must be 5.4ft tall.

Joseph hinted that applicants must have  five   WASCE, O’level, credit passes including Maths and English, saying that all applicants must be physically fit, just as he added that the exercise is strictly for Ondo state indigenes.

He debunked the allegation that applicants were meant to pay money before they are selected, saying that the allegation is baseless and unsubstantiated just as he advised them to be focused ensuring  they pass the forthcoming examination. He  said it  is a yardstick for selection.
