Over 5,000 people have benefited from the Payroll Support Scheme under the Survival Fund Project of the Federal Government in Ondo State.
The State Focal Person for the government’s programme, Mrs Kosemani Kolawole, made this known in Akure, during a meeting with beneficiaries of the programme.
Kolawole, who said that about 13,000 slots were allocated to the state by the federal government, said that hospitals, hotels, chambers, schools, and other private enterprises had benefited from the programme
“This is the first component. Other components have been benefiting too. There are five components; apart from the payroll support, we have the artisans/drivers scheme, with 9,000 slots. The artisan enumeration has been completed, payment has started, but not yet completed while the driver enumeration is yet to start.
“The third is the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) which has also been completed, but the fourth and fifth are yet to take off in the state, which is General Grant and Guarantee Offtake scheme.
“The PDO sent a list of 5,144 beneficiaries from about 800 companies from Ondo State on the Pay Roll Support component of the Survival Fund Project. They have been paid; some for two months, some for three months. And we feel that it is good to appreciate the federal government so that they can do more and also thank the state government for facilitating the project for the benefit of the people of the state.
“So we invited a representative from each benefited company to confirm the list of their agency, confirm the list of people paid and also compile list of those that have issues. We want to appreciate the federal government for the gesture.”
Kolawole called on other private business enterprises who registered but were yet to receive their payments to be patient.
Some beneficiaries of the scheme who spoke with The Hope, expressed their gratitude to the federal government.
They commended the authorities for the transparent manner it was executing the scheme.
An ICT Operator, Mr Emmanuel Akinwunmi, from Okititupa, whose employees were paid N30, 000 each, said the scheme was real and credible.
“I am very happy that my company was selected and that I am a beneficiary of the Federal Government’s Survival Funds for MSMEs.
“The Federal Government has been helpful in putting smiles on the faces of my workers and I am very grateful to the president for this kind gesture.
Also a beneficiary in the education sector, Mrs Olajumoke Fadeni could not hide her joy as nine staff in her school received N30, 000 under the scheme.
