No fewer than 5,000 residents of Okitipupa Local Government benefited from the second edition of the Careerbridge Foundation health programme tagged: “Ikale Free Medical Outreach” held at the General Hospital, Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday.

48 Cataracts and 27 hernia surgical operations were carried out with tests on over 100 patients and drugs dispensed to them daily throughout the one week free health programme

CEO/President of Careerbridge, Module Olowodahunsi said that although the programme took place at Igbotako, Idepe and Ikoya last year,

He informed that the programme is going to be consistent, considering the health challenges of the people.

“We are determined to spread it to more communities and make it a continuous event as much as fund is available. Last year, not less than 95% of expenses was borne by me, but the foundation received reasonable assistance this year, ” he informed.

One unique thing about this year’s programme according to him is the presence of a Physiotherapist among the medical team because, he said cases of body pains are many in the area.

He added that a lot of medical devices were brought, some of which will be donated to the health facilities used at the end of the exercise.

Some of the beneficiaries who appreciated the gesture included Chief John Owonola, 70 years old Mr. Olukayode Akinbinu, 78, and Mrs. Stella Gbologe on whom cataract operations were performed.

Akinbinu who spoke on their behalf said that the initiative is wonderful
