6 Brigade dominates 2025 Inter-Brigade military challenge

The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its reputation for excellence, clinching the overall first position at the 2025 3 Division Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition.

The intensive weeklong exercise, which wrapped up yesterday, took place at the 20 Model Battalion Obstacle Area in Serti Baruwa, Taraba State.

According to the statement, the competition brought together formations under 3 Division to compete in a variety of core military events such as Weapon Handling, Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Drill, and Obstacle Crossing.

“These activities were designed to enhance combat readiness, build esprit de corps, and strengthen regimentation among soldiers in the Corporal and Below category.

In his closing remarks, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Eyitayo Folusho Oyinlola, who was represented by the host Brigade Commander and Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended all participating formations for their impressive performances.

“While some may have emerged as winners, I believe every participant is a victor for having endured the rigours of the competition and displayed unwavering commitment to excellence,” he stated.

Addressing the troops further, he added: “Take the lessons learned here back to your units. Continue to train hard, stay loyal, and remain ever ready to defend our nation against all threats.”

Brigadier General Uwa also expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, for his steadfast support and strategic leadership.

“His commitment to training, discipline, and operational readiness continues to guide us.

” We are particularly thankful for the funding and logistical support that made this competition a resounding success.”

He further acknowledged the cooperation of sister security agencies, noting that the prompt exchange of actionable intelligence has significantly contributed to improved security in Taraba State.

At the end of the competition, 6 Brigade claimed first place in all contested events among the six participating formations.

“33 Artillery Brigade finished in second place, 53 Signal Brigade came third, while 3 Division Garrison, 43 Engineer Brigade, and 23 Brigade placed fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding individual soldiers and formations, as well as the distribution of souvenirs to invited guests.
