By Kehinde Oluwatayo
Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Rural and Community Development, Mr Victor Olabimtan has assured that the 60km rural roads to be constructed across the three senatorial districts of the state will be ready in December.
Speaking with newsmen yesterday, Olabimtan said the roads contract will be awarded in the next one month.
He assured that the people of the communities involved will be plying the roads to their farms in December.
Olabimtan noted that Ondo state government keyed into Rural Access Agriculture Marketing Project (RAAMP) to open up all the rural areas in the state to ease movement of farm produce to the market.
He said RAAMP is going to construct about 540km of roads to connect farm settlements in the state.
While saying that the 60km which will be constructed this year was to keep the hope of people alive as they wait for financial effectiveness of RAAMP, Olabimtan explained that real work will commence in March next year.
Olabimtan who said farmers in the state need incentives to enhance their productions noted that cooperatives will be formed and soft loans will be given to them to be paid back.
He also said seedlings will be provided close to them to prevent going to a far place to get them.
Also speaking, State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr Olugbenga Olorunnegan said the roads were prioritised based on population and food value chain of the community.
According to him, the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave approval to RAAMP and Ministry of works and Infrastructure to design the roads adding that the design work is almost completed.
