In preparation for the 60th anniversary of Methodist High School, Owo, old students of the school are warming up to raise N250 million to address infrastructural deficiencies in the school. The old students who met at the school on Saturday raised N10 million on the spot, urging others to join in the crusade to save their alma mater.
Speaking at the well-attended reunion, the President of METHSOOSA, Mr. Akinola Olagbemide Osuporu, called on old students to contribute to the donation to give the school a befitting facelift.
Osuporu disclosed that the envisaged target is to provide infrastructural developments commensurate with international standards, regrettably lacking in the college at present. He mentioned classroom renovation, provision of an e-library, building of a modern science laboratory, and the purchase of an 18-seater bus as among the urgent needs of the school.
Osuporu appealed to the good conscience of former students who are occupying important positions not to turn their backs on their alma mater. He expressed optimism that their kindness at this point will provide the school with the necessary amenities to rekindle its self-esteem and glory.
