64th Independence anniversary: Ondo govt intensifies environmental campaign
By Kemi Olatunde
As Nigeria prepares to mark its 64th Independence Day Celebration, the Ondo State Government has intensified efforts to promote environmental sustainability in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Dr. Adeyemi Olayemi, stated this while championing the environmental cleanliness initiative, which aligns with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision for a better state, in Akure on Monday.
According to him, the government is committed to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for citizens, noting that the initiative reflects the Governor’s dedication and Nigeria’s broader goal of environmental conservation.
He listed key initiatives, including environmental impact assessments, public enlightenment programmes, and compliance enforcement across ministries, companies, schools, hotels, markets, stores, public gathering areas, and other places.
The efforts, he said, aim to enhance public health and well-being, promote eco-friendly practices, and foster community involvement in environmental conservation.
However, he called on stakeholders to join in promoting environmental sustainability to achieve the desired Ondo State.
