8th NYG: Braitwaite shines, increases team Ondo medals
Tolulope Braitwaite shone like stars at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State as she won more gold medals for team Ondo in Gymnastics’ Balance Beam and team event.
Braitwaite’s sterling performance has given team Ondo the most precious shield in Balance Beam, she won the second Gold in team event along with Victoria Chiwemerie, Yusuf Taiwo Kemisola .
The outstanding gymnast, also added another silver medal to her name in the Vault and a Bronze medal in other event.
The General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Sunday Fagite in a chat with Sporting Hope, commended Tolulope Braitwaite for her sterling performance at the national youth fiesta, describing her as Nigeria’s future in Gymnastics.
Fagite while praising other athletes that have won medals for Ondo State said ,the dividend of ‘catch them young’ has started manifesting at the National Youth Games.
According to him: “I said it earlier that my vision as the General Manager of the sports council was to catch the young talent young at the grassroots, and thank God we are all seeing the results of our hard work.”
“I pray that Tolulope Braitwaite and other outstanding athletes at the game represent Nigeria in future.”
“It’s not yet done, we are still expecting more medals from other sports like , Badminton, Wrestling, Judo athletic is still ongoing and we are expecting a positive result in 200 metres.”
Team Ondo has won four gold, two silver and three bronze medals as at the time of filling this report.
