8th NYG: Team Ondo wins more medals in Judo

The duo of Boluwatife Agunbiade and Kehinde Oriowo have won more medals for Team Ondo at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Judoka Boluwatife Agunbiade won Silver medal in the 32KG Judo cadet event.

The hard fighting judoka lost narrowly to her Delta state opponent to settle for the silver .

Also,in the 35kg category, Kehinde Oriowo claimed a Bronze medal after defeating his opponent in a keenly contested fight.

Judo head coach in Ondo State,Toyin Ojo commended the athletes for their brilliant performances, saying their future is bright.

He added that the judoka gave a good account of themselves, despite not having adequate preparation for the competition.

He said: “I commend the Ondo State government for their support so far, but we are still expecting more from them in the area if funding and provision of facilities. We also call on corporate bodies and individuals to join hands with government to develop the overall sports in the state and the court at large.”

As at the time of filling this report, team Ondo has won a total of 11 medals, four gold,three silver and four bronze .
