A cleric for all, Aiyedatiwa eulogises late Chief Imam of Ijebu-Owo

As thousands of Muslim faithful, family, friends, sons and daughters of Owo kingdom gathered on Monday to observe 8th Day Fidau Prayer for the late Chief Imam of Ijebu-Owo, Alhaji Aminu Oluwajekitemiodara, the governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has described the nonagenarian as a cleric with unique attributes.

Alhaji Oluwajekitemiodara passed away on September 23rd, 2024 in Owo at the age of 92.

Delivering his eulogy, the governor, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, called on the people to emulate the exemplary life of the late Chief Imam.

According to him, “the life and times of baba as x-rayed by those who spoke about him here today, should be a lesson to all of us. He was a man of uncommon humility, a detribalised Nigerian and lover of peace.

“Listening to the outpouring of testimonies, I cannot but conclude that Baba was a cleric for all.

“On behalf of government and people of Ondo state, I want to commiserate with the people of Ijebu-owo, the muslim community across the state and family of Alhaji Sheik Aminu Oluwajekitemiodara, on the passing of our highly revered cleric and community leader. I pray that Almighty Allah will grant him Jannatul Firdaus”.

In his sermon, National President of Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Ademola Sanni, said the late Chief Imam was a model to many in his immediate community of Owo and the Islamic community across the country.

“Alhaji Sheikh Aminullah Oluwajekitemiodara, during his life displayed good manners that one could likened to that of the Holy Prophet Mohammed’s, who was more concerned about the people than himself”, Alhaji Sanni said.
