AA National Chairman in court for alleged forgery

The National Chairman of Action Alliance Party, AA, Kenneth Udeze, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for alleged conspiracy and forgery.
The accused person was alleged to have committed the offence in 2018 during the governorship primary election in Osun state.
The prosecutor from the office of Assistant Inspector General, AIG zone X1, Mr James Famuyini, alleged that the accused person conspired with others at large, to forge INEC document and thereby committed an offence.
The accused person was also alleged to have altered INEC document and presented same to INEC during in 2018.
The accused person was arraigned on a four count charge on conspiracy, alteration and forgery.
Meanwhile, the accused person pleaded not guilty to all the four count charges. His counsel, Mr Wemimo Animasahun, prayed the court to grant his client bail on self recognition, noting that he is a lawyer of 15 years at the bar.
In alternative, he also prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in the most liberal term, promising that he would not jump bail.
The prosecutor urged the court to deny the bail of the accused person, saying he evaded arrest for more than one year.
In her ruling, Magistrate Rofiyat Olayemi, stated that the offences in which the accused person was arraigned are bailable.
She hinted that bail is a constitutional right of the accused.
She thereby granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate Olayemi stated that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Level 5 and should reside in Osun.
She said the second surety must be an indigene of Imo state where the accused hails from and must reside in Osun.
The case was adjourned till November 5, 2019 for mention.
