AAUA students celebrate 24years of ‘unbroken democracy’, confer awards on past leaders

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), have called on former leaders of the Student Union Government (SUG) to remain steadfast in their dedication to unionism at the state-owned institution.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, the Students’ Union President, Comrade Boladale Oyindamola, noted the importance of continued support from past leaders in fostering the growth and development of the union.
He further announced that the union is celebrating 24 years of unbroken democracy at the institution by recognizing outstanding contributions from former union officers and honoring distinguished Nigerians.
Oyindamola said, “My thanks goes to you for joining us today as we converge to announce a milestone and significant event in the history of the AAUA Students’ Union.”
“We are elated to share that we will be conffering Life Membership Honours, Honorary Membership Honours and the esteemed Senior Lawyer of the Masses Honours to distinguished personalities who have made remarkable contributions to our community and the nation.
“This is in the spirit of the celebration and euphoria that flows with the
epochal 24h year anniversary of full-fledged students unionism in Adekunle Ajasin University.”
“By putting this up, we are basking in the sense of unity, camaraderie and comradeship that had defined
our students union in its 24 year of unbroken democracy while also caling on all our honorees to step up their commitments to the union as the AAUA Students Union moves to redefine
students’ unionism in the country.
“This landmark event is not merely a ceremony, it is a conspicuous platform for the celebration of
dedication, leadership, and the spirit of service these individuals embody.
“The prestigious honours
reckon persons who have gone above and beyond to not just uplift our students body but also
advocate for justice, equality in their truest sense.”
The President added that the Attorney-General of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, CON, the member representating Akoko North West and North East Federal Constituency, Hon. Ife Ehindero, Human Rights Activist, Barr. Tope Temokun and host of other past leaders of the Union will be honoured.
“The conferment will take place on Friday 17h January, at 12pm at the Nelson Mandela Hall,
AAUA, and we encourage everyone to attend. It will be an opportunity so celerate our honorees and to reflect on the impact of their work on our lives and communities,” Oyindamola said.
