The Students’ Union President of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Comrade Salami Akeem (Ologbon), has appealed to the Ondo State Government to intervene swiftly in resolving the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), AAUA chapter.
In a statement issued, Akeem said the prolonged strike had disrupted academic activities and caused anxiety among students, calling for urgent government attention to restore normalcy on campus.
He noted that the university community, once known for its academic excellence, had been facing uncertainty due to the industrial action, which, if not addressed, could further affect the institution’s stability.
“I humbly and firmly appeal to the Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Your Excellency, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to give prompt attention to the demands of our lecturers,” he said. “Their welfare is their right and a cornerstone for quality education and academic excellence in our institution.”
Akeem also urged both the university management and ASUU to remain open to dialogue, noting that peaceful engagement remains the best way to safeguard the future of thousands of students.
The union leader reaffirmed the students’ solidarity with their lecturers and expressed hope that the ongoing strike would be resolved soon to allow students to return to their academic activities.
