AAUA VC reaffirms commitment to staff training for improved service delivery

The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff training, retraining, and capacity building for effective service delivery at all levels in the institution.

Prof. Ige made this statement on Thursday, 5th December 2024, during a one-day training organised by the Teaching and Leadership Centre of the university for newly appointed Deans of Faculty, Directors, Sub-Deans, and Heads of Departments and Units.

In his words, *“If we continue to do things the same way, we cannot expect different results. This event was designed to address specific challenges faced by heads of units, as well as deans and directors.

“What we are doing now is for everyone to learn—not just for today but for the future—so that the system can continue functioning appropriately. We all need to come together and work towards achieving a common goal. The institution is not solely about academic duties; training is very important, and that is why we place a high premium on regularly training our staff.”

The Vice-Chancellor commended the Teaching and Leadership Centre, under the leadership of its Director, Prof. Busuyi Mekusi, for organising the programme. He stated, “I want to affirm that our administration will continue to support the centre so that the mandate given to it by the university can be achieved.”

In his welcome address, Prof. Mekusi emphasised the importance of such training. He noted, *“As an institution, we need to be deliberate in our decisions to move forward. If we are not intentional, we risk doing things traditionally and obtaining conventional results.
