Abducted petrol attendant in Ilaje regains freedom

The 30-year-old petrol station attendant, Temitope Akinbote, who was kidnapped in Magbehinwa, in the Ilaje Local Government area has regained her freedom.
According to the source, the lady was dropped at a border community between Ondo and Delta States around 4 am on Sunday.
The family head, Mr. Billy Owobo Ogungbamila, who confirmed her release appreciated Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa and all the security agencies in the state for their support and contribution toward the release of his daughter from the kidnappers’ den.
However, Ogungbamila did not disclose the amount paid to the abductors before her release.
But a reliable source disllosed to The Hope Metro that some amount of money was paid to the kidnappers.
Also, a source from the security agencies confirmed to our correspondent that the sum of N6million was paid to the kidnappers before the lady was released.
“Yes, of course. N6 million was paid before her abductors released her,” the source said.
Also, the manager of the filling station, Prince Igbekele Omotehinse confirmed the release of the lady, but said he was yet to set eyes on her.
“They dropped her around Owoye in a community known as Yonrin after Ubale community within Ondo State”
“Though we have not set our eyes on the victim, her parents have picked her and reported to the Marine police at Riverside”, Omotehinse revealed.
Recall The Hope Metro reported had Temitope Akinbote was kidnapped on Friday, February 9, 2024, at a petrol filling station, in Gbabijo, where she worked as a Sales Representative.
The unknown gunmen reportedly came in a speed boat of double 200HP and kidnapped the girl away. And since then, this young lady was nowhere to be found.
It was reported that the kidnappers later communicated with the family, demanding N600 million ransom to secure the release of the victim which was later reduced to N100 million.
However, a resident who spoke with The Hope Metro on condition of anonymity, urged the security agencies in the riverine area to put more efforts into securing the lives and property of the people in the area, to avert further occurrence.
