Abduction of traditional rulers embarrassing –Monarch

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo
|
The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin has described the incessant abduction of traditional rulers in Nigeria as embarrassing.

The monarch made the assertion during a familiarisation visit to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige on Thursday in Osogbo.

Ogiyan while flaying abduction of monarchs expressed the need to build a formidable security around traditional rulers in Nigeria.

“The menace of incessant abduction of traditional rulers in Nigeria nowadays is very unfortunate, unspeakable and embarrassing. While it must be absolutely eradicated, the ugly trend must not be allowed to spread to the South Western part of the country.”

Oyesosin, who pledged his support and cooperation to the Nigeria Police Force, also stated that reciprocation of goodwill by the people for effective service delivery is vital to efficient policing in this part of the world.

He urged the police to be proactive in tackling emerging breach of law and order at every point in time.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Ige promised that the prevailing peace in the area will be maintained.

She charged the community heads and chiefs in attendance to always keep the police abreast of any anomaly in their vicinities, stressing that the police is prepared to nip crime in the bud, not only in the state, but in Nigeria as a whole.
